Mollymauk tealeaf -
Critical Role

Critical Role is a Dungeons and Dragons live play web series. The character Mollymauk Tealeaf is one of my favorites from the show. In the summer of 2021, Critical Role did a one shot with a handful of their past characters in a battle royal. I fell in love with Mollymauk's new design and wanted to recreate it. I patterned out the overcoat by draping and pinning scrap fabric. I made the necklaces from scratch.  To create the peacock feather detail on the jacket, I carved the design out of a linoleum block and did a mono print of the design. I made the overcoat from a white linen and dyed the pattern using 16 bottles of tie dye. I then distressed the bottom half using a hammer, meat tenderizer, and a steel plate. The bodysuit was made from an altered pattern from Sew/Cut and a dyed stretch fabric. The tattoos are done with fabric markers by Rachel Schulz (@chachdraws). The scars are a flexible fabric paint. I used eyeshadow to shade in the details.  The nails are press on nails painted with nail polished and attached with nail glue. The jeans were sourced and cut to be cut offs with the bottoms being the leggings. The chain belt was also made from the same cain as the necklace. The other belts were sourced or left over from a previous project. The wig was previously a medium, long blonde wig. I dyed it using a synthetic liquid dye. I then cut it to the desired length. I removed a few wefts from the back to move the hairline to the side, rather than the middle with bangs. The tail is made out of two EVA foam dowel rods, 10mm EVA foam cut into a spade, fabric from the bodysuit, and a clasp to hook it to my belt loop. I also covered the seam at the base of the spade with a strip of painted 2mm EVA foam with some lace glued to it.
