Geralt of Rivia - The Witcher
The Witcher originally started as a Polish fantasy novel series by Andrzej Sapkowski, but since has been adapted into tv shows, comics, and video games. In a mix of my love for this character and disappointment in the latest show's designs for Geralt, I wanted to design my own version in honor of all adaptations of this iconic character. I took references from the original show, book covers, comic art, various game armor, Netflix's adaptation, and historical garments. I wanted this garment to have as much texture and depth to it as possible, adding in embroidery, rivets, paint, and chain mail. My favorite detail was in collaboration with two friends to model and 3D print out stamps in the shape of the signs Witchers cast in the game. I then stamped a leather strap that then wrapped around my forearm. This project helped me learn new skills such as chain mail, leather work, and armor building.
